Flipkart’s Big Billion Days (BBD) has grown into India’s biggest online shopping festival since its launch in 2014. The first edition, held on October 6 that year, generated sales worth about $100 million in hours but suffered from site crashes and delivery issues. By 2015 and 2016, Flipkart turned the one-day event into a multi-day sale, added more categories, and built better logistics. Over the years, the company introduced early access for loyal customers, bundled bank discounts, no-cost EMIs, and exchange offers, making BBD a highly anticipated annual retail carnival.
In the earlier years, between 2014 and 2018, the focus remained on mobiles and limited fashion deals, with moderate discounts but recurring stock shortages. From 2020 onward, the event scaled up to cover everything from fashion and lifestyle to appliances and groceries. Technical stability improved, logistics became smoother, and overall customer experience became far more reliable compared to the first chaotic edition.
The 2025 Big Billion Days, starting September 23 (with early access on September 22 for Flipkart Plus and Black members), is set to deliver record-breaking price cuts. Smartphones remain the highlight: the iPhone 16 will drop to around ₹51,999, with offers pushing it under ₹50,000. The Google Pixel 9, launched at ₹79,999, is now just ₹34,999. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to fall below ₹90,000, while the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is also lined up for steep discounts. Motorola’s Razr 60 foldable is expected under ₹40,000, and the Edge 60 Pro will feature aggressive pricing.

Laptops are another major draw this year. Gaming machines such as the HP Omen 16 and Asus ROG Strix will see drops of ₹15,000–20,000, bringing prices closer to the ₹80,000 mark. Budget and student-focused laptops like the Acer Aspire series and Lenovo IdeaPad Slim are expected to start around ₹25,000–30,000, while ultrabooks such as the Apple MacBook Air M2 will see effective pricing of ₹75,000–80,000 after bank offers.
Beyond gadgets, fashion and lifestyle products are set for 80–90% discounts, with “Fashion Passes” adding extra savings. TVs, refrigerators, and audio products from Sony, LG, and JBL are also featured in the mega sale.
From a glitch-filled experiment in 2014 to a polished, competitive, and discount-heavy festival in 2025, Flipkart’s Big Billion Days continues to redefine online shopping in India.
