The Indian Railways has added yet another feather to its cap with the launch of the Jodhpur – Delhi Cantonment Vande Bharat Express (Train No. 20843/20844) on 25 September 2025. This semi-high-speed train is designed to drastically improve connectivity between western Rajasthan and the national capital, making travel faster, safer, and more comfortable.
The inauguration was carried out today with much fanfare, flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw along with senior dignitaries of Indian Railways. Speaking on the occasion, the minister called this new service “a milestone for Rajasthan’s development and a proud addition to India’s modern railway network.” He further highlighted that Vande Bharat trains are not just about speed but about “comfort, safety, and boosting regional growth by linking heritage cities with Delhi.”
The train covers a distance of 604 km in just about 8 hours and 5 minutes, reducing journey time by over two hours compared to conventional express services. It runs six days a week, with Tuesdays as the weekly off. For passengers starting from Jodhpur, the train departs at 05:55 AM and arrives at Delhi Cantonment at 02:00 PM. On the return journey, it leaves Delhi in the afternoon and reaches Jodhpur the same evening, offering convenience to both tourists and business travelers.

Benefits for Travellers
The train is equipped with modern seating, infotainment screens, bio-vacuum toilets, and automatic doors, offering a premium experience at regular train fares. The inclusion of the Kavach anti-collision system ensures high safety standards, making it one of the most secure rail journeys in India.
For Rajasthan’s tourism sector, this train is a boon. Tourists heading to Delhi after visiting Jodhpur’s forts, Ajmer Sharif Dargah, or Jaipur’s palaces can now enjoy a swift and hassle-free ride. Business travelers also benefit from the shorter journey time, allowing for same-day trips between Delhi and major Rajasthani cities.
