The glittering night of the 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards with Gujarat Tourism, held at the EKA Arena in Ahmedabad on October 11, 2025, celebrated the very best of Hindi cinema. Hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, and Maniesh Paul, the ceremony witnessed moments of laughter, nostalgia, and heartfelt tributes to Indian filmmaking excellence.
The spotlight of the evening belonged to Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies, which emerged as the biggest winner, sweeping 13 awards including Best Film and Best Director. The film’s refreshing storytelling, supported by Sneha Desai’s sharp dialogues and a stellar ensemble cast, reaffirmed that socially resonant cinema can also charm audiences.
In the acting categories, Kartik Aaryan (Chandu Champion) and Abhishek Bachchan (I Want To Talk) shared the Best Actor (Popular) trophy in a rare tie, celebrating two contrasting performances — one inspirational, the other introspective. Alia Bhatt took home the Best Actress award for Jigra, portraying a complex blend of strength and vulnerability. Veteran star Chhaya Kadam was honored as Best Supporting Actress for her scene-stealing role in Laapataa Ladies, while the Best Supporting Actor category recognized powerful performances across multiple films.
The Critics’ Awards reflected a taste for realism and character depth. I Want To Talk won Best Film (Critics), while Rajkummar Rao earned Best Actor (Critics) for his nuanced portrayal in Srikanth. Pratibha Ranta received the Best Actress (Critics) award for her performance that balanced intensity with grace.

In the writing and music sections, Article 370 stood tall with Best Story (Aditya Dhar and Monal Thaakar), while Laapataa Ladies added to its tally through Sneha Desai’s win for Best Dialogue. The Best Adapted Screenplay trophy went to Ritesh Shah and Tushar Sheetal for I Want To Talk. On the musical front, Ram Sampath was lauded with Best Music Album, marking a return to melody and emotional resonance.
Technical brilliance was recognized with awards across cinematography, editing, sound design, and VFX, distributed among Kill, Laapataa Ladies, and I Want To Talk. Each film exemplified the craftsmanship driving Bollywood’s evolving visual identity.
The evening also celebrated cinematic legends with Lifetime Achievement Awards for Zeenat Aman and Shyam Benegal, applauded with a standing ovation.
With its blend of glamour, artistry, and heartfelt homage to storytellers, the 70th Filmfare Awards 2025 reaffirmed that Indian cinema continues to innovate while honoring its timeless soul.
