The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the notification for the UGC-NET December 2025 session, opening the doors for aspiring Assistant Professors and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) candidates across India. The registration process began on 7 October 2025 and will remain active until 7 November 2025 (11:50 PM) on the official website — ugcnet.nta.ac.in. A correction window will be available from 10 to 12 November 2025 for applicants to rectify minor errors in their submitted forms.
The University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is conducted twice a year, in June and December, to determine eligibility for Assistant Professor roles and the award of JRF in Indian universities and colleges. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories). There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor eligibility, while JRF applicants must be under 30 years, with applicable relaxations.
The December 2025 cycle will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across multiple sessions and subjects. The exam comprises two papers — Paper 1 on General Aptitude and Paper 2 on the candidate’s chosen subject. Both papers will be conducted in a single three-hour session without any break. UGC-NET 2025 will cover 85 subjects, ranging from arts and humanities to science, commerce, and social studies.

The application fee remains unchanged: ₹1,150 for General category, ₹600 for OBC/EWS, and ₹325 for SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates. Applicants must upload a recent passport-sized photograph, scanned signature, and valid certificates while completing the online form.
The exam dates will be announced shortly, followed by admit cards, answer keys, and results on the official portal. Candidates are advised to cross-verify their Aadhaar and UDID details to avoid discrepancies during verification.
With the release of the UGC-NET December 2025 notification, thousands of postgraduate scholars now have the opportunity to advance their academic careers and contribute to India’s higher education ecosystem.
