The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) Common Eligibility Test (CET) has recently fallen prey to cyber fraud, with a fake website deceiving job seekers by falsely mimicking the official registration portal. This scam has led to financial losses for applicants, raising serious concerns over online safety in government examinations.
How the Scam Operated
The fraudulent website, https://onetimeregn.examinationservices.in, was cleverly designed to resemble the genuine HSSC CET portal, https://onetimeregn.haryana.gov.in. Unsuspecting candidates were redirected to this fake site, where they were prompted to submit application forms and pay registration fees via QR codes, leading to direct monetary fraud.

Investigations revealed that the scam was orchestrated by cyber criminals operating from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, with accomplices in Kurukshetra and Fatehabad, Haryana. The police confirmed that 77 candidates were duped, resulting in a total fraud of ₹22,530.
Swift Police Action & Preventive Measures
Upon receiving complaints, the Sector-5 Police Station in Panchkula acted quickly by initiating a probe into the fraudulent activities. Their cyber cell successfully removed the fake website from Google search results and deactivated the QR code used for transactions.
Authorities urged applicants to remain vigilant when applying for government exams online. DCP Srishti Gupta of Panchkula emphasized that aspirants should always verify the web domain and strictly use official government portals ending in “.gov.in” to avoid falling victim to similar scams.
