Commuting between Dubai and Sharjah has long been a daily struggle for thousands of residents. From traffic congestion to high transport costs, the journey has often felt more like a challenge than a routine. However, the recent launch of the E308 intercity bus route by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on May 2, 2025, marks a turning point — bringing greater ease, affordability, and convenience to daily travel between the two emirates.
Before: High Costs and Long Waits
Prior to this launch, commuters had limited options. They could drive — and face hours stuck in traffic — or rely on taxis and ride-hailing services, which were costly, especially during peak hours. Public transport options like buses E303 and E307 existed but were often crowded, infrequent, or took longer routes. Families found it even more difficult, especially when traveling with children or elderly members, as the experience was rarely smooth or economical.
After: A Route That Works for Everyone
The new E308 bus service runs from Dubai’s Stadium Bus Station to Sharjah’s Al Jubail Bus Station, operating daily from 5:00 AM to 11:30 PM with a bus every 30 minutes. The fare is just AED 12, making it one of the most affordable and accessible travel options between the two cities.
The buses are air-conditioned, clean, and designed with comfort in mind — making them ideal for families, students, and office-goers. With spacious seating and easy boarding, travelers now enjoy a safe and relaxed journey. The stations are also connected to local metros and bus lines, ensuring convenient access on both ends.

Broader Impact on Travel
Alongside the E308, the RTA has made strategic updates to several other routes — including Routes 17, 24, 44, and 56 — improving connectivity across Dubai’s residential areas and transit hubs. These changes aim to reduce traffic congestion, encourage public transport use, and support sustainable travel.
A Welcome Change for All
With the introduction of Route E308, daily intercity travel is no longer a hassle. The combination of frequent service, low fares, and family-friendly features makes it a smart choice for anyone commuting between Dubai and Sharjah. It’s a step in the right direction for a more connected, commuter-friendly UAE.
