Bollywood action hero Vidyut Jammwal is all set to make his grand Hollywood debut with the live-action reboot of the legendary video game franchise, Street Fighter. Known for his disciplined martial arts background and raw on-screen energy, Vidyut will play Dhalsim, the spiritual yoga master who can stretch his limbs and summon fire. It’s a role that plays directly into Vidyut’s strength—authentic combat performance and deep physical control, honed through years of training in Kalaripayattu.
The film brings together a diverse and power-packed cast. Hollywood superstar Jason Momoa will portray Blanka, the feral, electric-powered fighter with green skin and a tragic past. Other notable cast members include Andrew Koji (Ryu), Noah Centineo (Ken), Callina Liang (Chun-Li), Roman Reigns (Akuma), and Japanese wrestler Hirooki Goto (E. Honda). Directed by Kitao Sakurai, known for the Netflix comedy Bad Trip, this reboot will focus on intense fight choreography and rich character arcs rather than gimmicks.
Initially slated for a March 20, 2026 release, the film has now been temporarily removed from the release calendar by Legendary Entertainment. However, production is moving forward, with filming set to begin in Australia in August 2025. The makers are yet to announce a revised release date, but excitement is already mounting among gaming fans and action film enthusiasts.

Jason Momoa’s inclusion adds a new dimension to the project. Best known for roles in Aquaman and Game of Thrones, Momoa’s portrayal of Blanka is expected to bring both intensity and emotion. Paired with Vidyut’s calm, spiritual warrior persona, this duo could deliver some of the most thrilling face-offs on screen.
For Vidyut, this opportunity is a major career milestone. It marks not only his entrance into international cinema but also a significant representation of Indian martial arts on the global stage. His fans and industry peers alike view this project as a defining moment in his journey.
With a strong ensemble cast, gripping action, and global appeal, Street Fighter promises to be more than just another video game adaptation—it could become the next big cinematic franchise. And at its heart stands Vidyut Jammwal, ready to strike.
