VinFast, the electric vehicle (EV) arm of Vietnam’s leading conglomerate Vingroup, has officially announced its entry into the Indian market in 2025. Founded in 2017, the brand rapidly gained international attention by moving from combustion engine cars to 100% electric vehicles in under five years. After establishing its presence in the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia, India is VinFast’s next major stop—where it aims to become a key player in the fast-growing EV ecosystem.
The company has committed an initial investment of $500 million to build a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, with a planned capacity of 150,000 EVs per year. In addition to manufacturing, VinFast is forming strong partnerships for infrastructure. It has joined hands with RoadGrid to develop a nationwide charging network, and with myTVS to set up over 120 service workshops across major Indian cities. This full-stack approach—manufacturing, service, and charging—shows VinFast’s serious commitment to long-term operations in India.
VinFast’s Indian product lineup is expected to include four electric vehicles. The VF6 and VF7—compact and mid-size SUVs—are likely to be launched first. These models feature modern interiors, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and driving ranges of up to 450 km, with estimated pricing between ₹18–28 lakh. A more affordable option, the VF3, a small urban EV ideal for city driving, is expected to be priced around ₹7–9 lakh. In the luxury segment, the VF9 could follow in later phases, targeting premium buyers looking for a 6–7 seater electric SUV.

VinFast is also expected to introduce a battery subscription model, which will help reduce the upfront price of its EVs. The company’s Indian plant is planned to run on renewable energy, aligning with India’s clean energy goals. It also plans to use India as a hub for exports to other South Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
While VinFast is new to Indian consumers, its aggressive strategy, strong product features, and focus on affordability and service could make it a game-changer. The brand must build trust and compete with strong local players like Tata, Mahindra, and Hyundai. But with the right pricing and execution, VinFast might soon become a popular name among India’s new-age EV buyers.
